The Winter Classic

Not sure how many of my readers are hockey fans but let me tell you, I am a HUGE Pittsburgh Penguins fan. I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic this year. Basically it's a hockey game played outside and was held at Heinz Field (home of the Pittsburgh Steelers). It was a battle of arch enemies, the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. the Washington Capitals.  Being a Pens fan, I absolutely HATE the Caps. I can't stand them.

To build up the excitement of the Winter Classic, HBO followed the 2 teams around for a month to film HBO 24/7 The Road to the Winter Classic. It was a 4 part series that went behind the scenes and allowed you to get to know the players and their lives as hockey players. It was such a neat thing to watch and I never wanted it to end. Now all I can to is pray that HBO makes a DVD out of it!

Before the game, I went down to tailgate with my Dad, Big Brother, and cousins. We had so much fun and it is a day that I will never forget. Unfortunately the Penguins lost but... lets be honest, the Penguins are still the better team :)

absolutely LOVE this picture

Look who I ran into a few days before the game...
the Pens' mascot, Iceberg!

The Pens have a game tonight against the Boston Bruins so I'm going to watch the game with a friend (a bruins fan... YUCK) but never the less it should be a lot of fun. LETS GO PENS!
